Hypocracy

I had a all staff meeting at 7 o'clock this morning, and one of the themes the director talked about was starting the classes on time. Cool, I have no problem with that, as I am probably one of the most punctual teachers in the centre.

The meeting was supposed to finish at 8 o'clock, in time for classes to start, but only one quarter of the teachers who had classes at this time were ready to start. The remainder, including the Manager, were either chatting in the meeting room, or having a smoke.

Smegged off? You bet!

Why are some English Teachers worse than others?

There are a lot of English language students out there who find learning English to be a really difficult task, and who are not happy with there teachers.

The main cause of student frustration is that the majority of English Teachers here are crap. Most of the teachers have a good command of the language (Although there are many who don't) but they have no idea of how to teach. This is especially true of 'Native speaking' teachers.

Often, Colombian English Teachers, who had learnt English in the United States, Canada, England, or are graduates of a Colombian Bilingual' High School, are not much better, and have forgotten how difficult it is to learn English, and get frustrated with the students, adding to the students' anxiety.
